"CHILDREN CAN MOVE
MOUNTAINS"...NV AB 219,
which originated thru elementary students
in Henderson NV and introduced by Assemblywoman Barbara
Buckley, D-Las Vegas, into the 2001
Nevada Legislature would have made the Wild Horse/Mustang Nevada's 2nd state animal,
along
side the bighorn sheep. However,
the bill was withdrawn when politically powerful NV Senator
Dean Rhoads, father of Sagebrush Rebellion and public lands
rancher, introduced Amendment
1001 to AB 219 that turned AB 219 into just another Nevada
pro-ranching/anti-wild horse bill.
See
5-26-2001 and 6-3-2001.
NV Senator Amodei, whose jurisdiction covers Storey County,
where the 98 Christmas holiday wild horse slaughter occurred, was the deciding Senate floor vote
against the wild
horse becoming Nevada's 2nd state
animal. An F- score for both Senator Rhoads
and Amodei. Kids, never give up for what you know is
right! AND you were right!
